Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

You’re beginning to lose hope.

You’ve been in and out of therapy, have read numerous self-help books, joined groups, and yet it is still a struggle to get out of bed every day. All the effort you have put into improving yourself and your own mental health just doesn’t seem to go anywhere.

You’re beginning to worry that you are never going to get better. You spend most of your days going through the motions. You do your best to avoid and dismiss the intrusive thoughts and worries.

You do your best to try and engage in the things that are supposed to make you happy. Eating right, staying active, even a little meditation. But most days it just doesn’t seem worth it, and when you really make an effort, you still end up feeling disconnected.

What if there is no way out?

The hopelessness is really starting to get to you. It’s always been there, lurking in the background, but it’s never been this bad before.

You find yourself considering more and more extreme options, and some of them are really terrifying. It’s impossible to live like this, but there doesn’t seem to be any other option.

Before giving up, I’ll ask you to consider an approach that is showing ground breaking results for depression and PTSD.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy or KAP, has been shown in numerous clinical studies to effectively reduce the symptoms of hopelessness, suicidality, lack of purpose, and overwhelm.

But how does it work?

When administered at low doses, via an oral lozenge or an injection in the arm or leg, Ketamine produces a psychedelic experience that allows people to reinterpret their lives.

Most of the time our brains operate from a circuit called the Default Mode Network. This network serves as the rulebook for all the ways we interpret ourselves, other people, and the world around us. Ketamine throws out the old rulebook and shows you whole new ways of seeing yourself and the world.

This sounds intense. Are there side-effects?

Ketamine is considered one of the safest drugs currently available. It is so safe in fact, that it is classified as an “essential medicine” for hospitals by the WHO; and can be used effectively as an anesthetic on all sorts of animals, not just humans.

Side effects can include a sense of disorientation, difficulty walking immediately afterwards, and rarely nausea. Anyone with a history of heart disease or cardiovascular struggle should get approved by a doctor before engaging in KAP, since a KAP session will temporarily elevate your blood pressure.

What does a KAP session look like?

First you will have a medical intake with Molly Brown, a nurse practitioner I work with to establish that you are physically appropriate for KAP treatment. You can find out more about Molly at www.suniasol.com.

Then you will start with a few regular sessions so that we can get to know each other, I can answer questions about the KAP process, and we can set intentions for your KAP journeys.

A KAP session lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours. You will be provided with headphones and music, blankets to get comfortable, an eyemask, and I will sit with you the whole time.

Everyone’s KAP experience is different.

Some people report a sense of connecting to a larger experience of the universe and forces greater than themselves. Others revisit old memories, and find that they are able to fully grieve and resolve past hurts in a way that they have never been able to before.

Whatever happens know that I will be by your side to help you process whatever comes up.

After your KAP session we will schedule a follow up integration session, to help you digest and maximize the learnings from your experience.

How do I know if this is right for me?

KAP has been shown to dramatically reduce the symptoms of both treatment resistant depression and PTSD. If you are curious and ready to truly experience a different point of view, not just talk about it, then reach out for a free consultation.

You do not have to give up hope. There may still be a way for you to shed the old hurts and negative beliefs that are keeping you stuck, though nothing seems to have been able to address until now.
